Double Down

Double down refers to a play in the game of blackjack; the term refers to the chance of a player to increase his/her value of their initial bet.

Players can increase the value of their initial bet by up to 100% when doubling down. There is only one point in the game of blackjack when players can double down. This point is after the player is dealt with the two first cards in the game. At this point, there are three groups of hands where it is most recommended to double down:

  1. If the player has a hard nine (a hand of two cards that add up to 9, without an ace), while the dealer has a face-up card of two-six.
  2. The player has a hard 10 or a hard 11, and the dealer’s face-up card is lower.
  3. The player has a soft 16, 17, or 18, and the dealer’s face-up card is two-six.
